Peter received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of London (UK). He worked at Bell Labs from 1996 to 1997 when he retired. His assignments were in the management of Electronics Technologies Research and Development and included product line management, marketing, strategic planning, sales, recruiting, university relations and financial operations. He was also involved in the administration of corporate education and teaching. He was involved with semiconductor industry consortia as a technical advisory board member of the Semiconductor Research Corporation and a Director at SEMATECH (on assignment from Bell Labs). Peter’s international experience included university collaborations and technology transfer. He established a sustained record of scientific publications and presentations. He was a leader in the area of Semiconductor Modeling and Technology Computer Aided Design. He has been involved in computers and software development since he was a graduate student doing simulation studies using one of the first commercial electronic computers.
Since retiring, he worked as a consultant and then as an adjunct professor in the Computer Information Systems Department of the University of Maine at Augusta. While teaching, he developed an advanced web-based application to support both student and instructor in highly automated course administration and assessment. >p>Peter's current technical interests include (a) development of software to support the archiving of family media (35mm slides, 8mm video and digital camera media) and (b) sailboat electronics integration for efficient cruise/race planning and execution on Snapdragon II (Ericson 38).
Peter is an avid skier, archer and sailor. He is now a beginning hiker under training with his grandsons. So far Peter has summited Sugarloaf and the S. Horn of the Bigelow Range, Maine.
